Prospective Cohort Study of Infective Endocarditis in People Who Inject Drugs

Infective endocarditis (IE) in people who inject drugs (PWID) is an emergent public health problem. The purpose of this study was to investigate IE PWID and compare it with non-PWID patients. Two prospective cohort studies (ICE-PCS ICE-Plus databases, encompassing 8,112 episodes from 2000 2006 2008 2012, 64 34 sites 28 18 countries, respectively). Outcomes were compared between patients IE. Logistic regression analyses performed risk factors for 6-month mortality relapses amongst PWID.
